Janie Madeline (Morris) McGee, age 99, of Hollis, passed away late Friday night, September 29, 2017, at Harmon Memorial Hospital, in Hollis.
Madeline was born on December 30, 1917, in Harmon County, Oklahoma, to Robert Nathan and Geneva Eunice (Duvall) Morris. She married Blair McGee on June 11, 1940. Madeline graduated from LaCasa High School in 1935 and Southwestern State College in 1940. She taught at LaCasa 1944-1945, Arnett near Hollis 1961-1962 and Hollis 1962-1983. She retired from Hollis Elementary in 1983. Madeline was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Hollis, where she contributed love and time. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother and friend. She loved her family, her church, her students and watching sports " especially the Hollis Tigers and the Atlanta Braves!
Survivors include one son, Jimmy McGee and wife Linda of Gould; three daughters, Judy Russell of Edmond, Gaynelle McGee of Hollis and Jana McGee of Altus; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother; two sisters and two grandsons. Madeline was well loved by anyone who knew her and she will be dearly missed.
Funeral services for Madeline McGee will be at 3 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, in Hollis, with Pastor Nathan McGee, grandson, and Pastor Don Altom officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairmount Cemetery under the direction of Harmon County Funeral Home, of Hollis.
