Obituary for Mona Gay Boone
Mona Gay Boone, age 80, of Hollis, passed away early Monday, December 25, 2017 at Harmon Memorial Hospital.

Mona was born in Keeler, CA on October 10, 1937, to Cyril Trusvan and Lela Dosha (Evans) Booth. On December 27, 1953 she married the love of her life, Curtis Boone, in Winnfield, LA and they spent the next fifty-eight wonderful years together before his death. After their marriage, they established their first home in Amarillo, TX and a short time later Curtis began working for Colorado Interstate Gas Company. With Curtis" job, they lived in Elkhart, KS, Amarillo, TX where she worked for the City of Amarillo, Farmington, NM, where she worked for the Farmington Police Department and they moved to Vinson, OK in 1981 to farm.

In 1983, the couple moved to Hollis, OK. They later moved to Borger, TX for three years. In 1986, they moved back to Hollis where they purchased the Otasco store that she managed. After closing Otasco, Mona began working as a bookkeeper for the Motley Gin. Even after retiring from there, she would often get a phone call asking where this was, or what that was and she would stop what she was doing, get in the car and go show them how to fix it. Mona loved to fish and annual fishing trips with her husband and sons were one of her favorite things. She was a devout member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir until her health began to fail her and she no longer could.

She dearly loved the Hollis Tiger football and basketball teams and would go to every game that she possibly could. She also enjoyed tending to the cattle, spraying mesquite trees and restoring the family farm house the past few years and was so happy to see all her work completed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her nephew Jimmy Johnson, her sister Peggy Hammond, her brother Thomas Booth, and her husband Curtis Boone.

She is survived by three children, Sandra Kay Findley and husband Rick of Safford, AZ, Billy Curtis Boone and wife Claudette of Richmond, TX and Ronald Dale Boone and wife Rhonda of Elkhart, KS; six grandchildren, Tiffany Taylor, Tara Acuna and husband Kyle, Joseph Boone and wife Erica, Kristin Boone, Kaley Slocum and husband Gentry and Ali Boaldin; eleven great grandchildren, Matthew, Brayden, Zachary, Annabelle, Brady, Cason, Adalyn, Macy, Abigail, Carson, and Wyatt; her siblings, Barbara Waters of Winnfield, LA, Nelda Faye Johnson of Dalhart, TX, C.
