Obituary for Abelardo C. Moncada Sr.
Abelardo C. Moncada, Sr. age 71 passed away Sunday, May 11, 2003 at Grace Living Center in Altus. He was born April 11, 1932 at Crystal City, Texas. He was the son of the late Marcelino and Marla (Cabrera) Moncada. He married Graciela Escobedo August 20, 1993 at Vernon, Texas. He moved to Altus in 1955. He farmed for several years in the Jackson County area. He was a self-employed painter and contractor until he retired.
Survivors include his wife Graciela Moncada of Altus; eight children, frank Munoz, Juan Moncada, Abelardo Moncada, Jr. Ernest Moncada, Salvador Moncada, Paula Mostley, Connie Hernandez and Margie Martinez; ten stepchildren; Joe Cortez, Carlos Cortez, Ramiro Cortez, Yolanda Cortez, Gloria Cortez, Martin Gonzalez, Pedro Gonzalez, Gilbert Perez, Laura Moncada; one sister Angela Guerrero, twenty-five grandchildren and seventeen greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Trinida Maldonado and Martina Munoz, and one brother Pancho Montez.
Services for Abelardo C. Moncada, Sr. are scheduled for 10am Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Father Josseph Arledge officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family of Abelardo C. Moncada, Sr. will greet friends Tuesday, May 13, 2003 from 6:00-8:00pm at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
