Amy Bouher Nunnery, age 95, formerly of Meeker, passed away Friday, November 20, at Garden Terrace Alzheimer"s Center in Denver, Colorado. Amy was born on October 1, 1914 in Virginia, Illinois to Elmer J. Bouher and Clara Miller. Amy graduated from Granite (Oklahoma) High School, where she played on the basketball team. In June of 1939, Amy married Thomas June (T.J.) Nunnery in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She attended Southwestern State College where she received an undergraduate degree in mathematics. Amy also holds a Master"s degree in education from the University of Oklahoma.
Amy was an elementary school teacher for over forty years. Nearly twenty-five of those years were in the Meeker School District. She was very active in the Presbyterian Church in Meeker. Before moving to Denver, Colorado to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law, Amy had lived in Meeker for forty years.
Preceded in death by her parents, husbands and two sons, Amy is survived by her son, Joe Michael Nunnery and his wife, Diana Kay Nunnery, granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Nunnery of Denver and her sister, Helen Brown of Elk City, Oklahoma.
Greer Funeral Home of Mangum will conduct private family graveside services at the Granite City Cemetery.
