Obituary for Anna Rosa Aguilar

Anna Rosa Aguilar, a longtime resident of Hollis, Oklahoma, passed away on September 2, 2024, at Harmon County Hospital at the age of seventy-six.

Born in Mathis, Texas, on August 30, 1948, Anna was the daughter of Mike, Sr. and Manuela (Bentarcud) Saenz. At the age of seven, her family relocated to Harmon County. The Aguilar family worked in the agriculture industry. At a young age Anna worked with her family and she developed an incredible work ethic. While farming Anna met Gilberto Aguilar Jr., and their mutual love for dancing brought them closer together. They enjoyed going to local dance halls and dancing the night away. Later in life they enjoyed square dancing. They were united in holy matrimony on December 21, 1964, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hollis. Together, they raised their two children, Joe Rubin and Alfredo, and were blessed with five grandchildren.

Anna was a devoted Catholic, deeply involved in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Her faith was central to her life, and she was known for her commitment to attending Mass and her fervent prayers. For several years Anna worked as a seamstress in a local manufacturing plant and later as a caregiver. However, her primary role was as a homemaker. She applied the same work ethic that she supplied with any job. Throughout her life, Anna was always looking to help or support her family, her friends, and community any way she could.

Anna leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and commitment to her family, friends, and faith.

Preceding Anna in death is her parents, Mike Sr. and Manuela (Bentarcud) Saenz; her three sisters, Alice Olvetta, Adelpha Lopez, Celia Macias; three brothers, Abel Saenz, Adam Saenz, Mike Saenz, Jr., and her beloved husband, Gilberto Aguilar, Jr.

Left to honor her memory are her sons, Joe Ruben Aguilar, Alfredo Aguilar and wife Sandra; five grandchildren, Corey Joe Aguilar, Drayton Tyler Aguilar, Savannah Aguilar, Niko Aguilar and wife Stephanie, Carlos Aguilar and wife Samara also surviving Anna are her two best friends Maria Morales and Sally Cruz.
