Obituary for Anna Sue Adams
Anna Sue Adams, age 87 and long-time resident of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 in Oklahoma City, with her family by her side. Sue was born on April 25, 1933 to Dock and Beulah (Hatchett) Bull in Reed, Oklahoma. Sue attended 1st-12th grade at Reed Schools, graduating in 1950. Sue married the love of her life, Carroll Mack Adams, on May 5, 1951. From their union, Carroll and Sue were blessed with two loving daughters, Linda and Sherri.
Sue was a homemaker who enjoyed helping her family in any way she could. This included being the infamous "gate opener" for her husband Carroll, who often lovingly referred to Sue as "the best wife ever". Sue always enjoyed cooking and sewing and loved getting to prepare a meal for her family. When her girls were in school, Sue loved getting to watching them play basketball. Later in life, Sue enjoyed playing "42" with friends along with watching her grandkids and great grandkids play sports and show livestock. After leaving the farm in Reed and moving to Mangum, Sue and Carroll enjoyed having a cup of coffee and visiting with their coffee group. Sue was an active member of every church she attended, including faithfully teaching Sunday School at the Sulphur Baptist Church in Reed and at the Abundant Life Church in Mangum. After relocating to Altus, Sue became a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Sue was always active in the community, including being a member of the Sulphur Home Demonstration Club, serving on the Old Greer County Museum Board of Trustees, and being a proud member of the Red Hatters.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Dock and Beulah Bull, along with her brothers, Larry Lee Bull and Freddy Haskell "Butch" Bull.
Left to honor Sue's memory is her loving husband of sixty-nine years, Carroll Mack Adams; her two daughters, Linda Carole Winters and husband Glen, and Sherri Ann Smith and husband Randy; sister, Pat Hamilton and husband Arleigh; sister-in-law, Waniece Bull; grandchildren, Jed Wayne Winters and wife Krystal, Adam Caroll Winters and wife Emily, Lynsey Danielle Smith and Craig, and Cole Andrew Smith and Cathy; and eight great grandchildren, Gage William Winters, Brenna Grace Winters, Holden Mack Winters, Luke Thomason Winters, Andrew Keith Smith, Charles Craig "Tripp" Gilbert, Hannah Lee Weeks and Dylan Lee Weeks.
