Obituary for Audrey Grey Bowden
Aubrey Grey Bowden was born on December 24, 1910 at Mount Pleasant, Texas. He departed this life on September 15, 1999 at the age of 98.
He moved with his parents to Oklahoma at the age of twelve where they settled in the Aaron Community. He attended school at Aaron, Prarie Hill and graduated from the Victory High School in 1931.
On August 21, 1932 he married Anna Luvenia Felty at his parents home near Aaron, a community northwest of Olustee. God permitted them to have fifty nine years together.
Aubrey was saved at the age of fourteen and joined the Prairie Hill Baptist Church. He later joined the First Baptist Church of Olustee and served as an active leader and deacon.
He was an active member of the Altus Mosonic Lodge and the Gideons International to which he devoted much of his time and resources to distrubiting God;s Word, The Bible, locally as well as throughout the nation and the world.
He moved his family to a farm west of Olustee in 1944 where he lived until June of 1992, when he was moved to English Village Manor in Altus where he had resided until his death.
Those he leaves behind are; two daughters; Marjorie Wilburn and her husband Roy of Butler, Oklahoma, Gayle black of Lancaster, Texas, one son Wesley Bowden and his wife Suzanne of Dallas, Texas, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Bowden, one son, Aubrey Dale; and his parent, John Wesley and Susie Bowden.
Interment will be at the Olustee Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 17, 1999 from 6-8pm at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
