Obituary for Belva Joyce Wooten
Belva Joyce Littlefield Wooten was born on February 12, 1941, in Cortez, Colorado, to
Loretta Green and Raymond Littlefield. She attended various schools throughout her
childhood before ultimately settling in Altus High School. There, she met the man of her
dreams, Ted Wooten, while he was stationed at Altus Air Force Base. The two were
married on May 31, 1958, at First Baptist Church in Altus; they shared a loving marriage
of nearly 59 years until Ted passed away in 2017.
Belva was a devout Christian and remained a dedicated member of the First Baptist
Church for six decades. She spent many hours studying the bible and laughing with her
Round Table Book Club and Sunday School class.
Belva was an active mother and grandmother, lovingly referred to as Grandy by her
grandkids and their friends; she supported her girls in the PTA and Beta Mother's Club
and never missed a sporting event, musical, or choir trip for her girls and grands.
Belva was an exceptional pastry chef, homemaker, seamstress, and baker. She loved to
be with family and made every holiday and birthday memorable; she enjoyed hosting
various guests and had the gift of hospitality.
Belva lost her battle with Alzheimer's on February 17, 2024; we believe God prepared her
heart for this journey and we found the following poem written by Amie Clark in her
bible.

My Last Wish
Do not ask me to remember.
Don't try to make me understand.
Let me rest and know you're with me.
Kiss my cheek and hold my hand
I'm confused beyond your understanding.
I am sick and sad and lost.
All I know is that I need you,
To be with me at all cost.
Do not lose your patience with me.
Do not scold, or curse, or cry.
I can't help the way I'm acting.
I can't be different, though I try.
Just remember that I need you,
That the best of me is gone,
Please don't fail to stand beside me,
Love me till my life is done.

At the end of the poem was the attached handwritten note below.
"You have no idea how much I love you all. I'd give anything not to be a burden to my
loving family. I love you more than you'll ever know."
