Bennie Joe Cooper was born July 1, 1931 at Eldorado, Oklahoma. He died November 3, 1991 at Wilford Hall in San Antonio, Texas. He married Wilma Louise Crow July 1, 1951 at Martha Oklahoma and she preceded him in death August 17, 1987. He married Beulah Moore July 16, 1988 at Martha, Oklahoma. He served in the USAF over 22 years and served in Korea and Viet Nam. He retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was a member and Deacon of the First Baptist of Martha. He was elected as Mayor of Martha in 1985 and served until January 1991. He was a life long resident of Jackson County except during his 22 years in the Air Force.
services are scheduled for 11 am Wednesday, 6, 1991 at the First Baptist Church, Martha. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Paslay and Rev. Rocky LaMarr. Interment will be in the Martha Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will meet with friends Tuesday November 5, 1991 from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his mother, Mildred E. Walker of Altus, Oklahoma; wife Beulah Margaret of Martha, Oklahoma children, Debra Lynn Kuns of San Angelo, Texas; son, Joey Glen Cooper of Midwest City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Dena Kuns, Jennifer Kuns, Christen Kuns, Josh Cooper; four step-children Margaret Lou Chapin, McKinney, Texas; Anita J Brown of Gainsville, Texas; David Orville Moore, Euluss, Texas; Paul Edwin Moore, Kansas City, Missouri; ten step-grandchildren; Tonja Minyard, Bret Brown, Cindy Horn, Carl Horn, Paula Torrez, Willie Moore, Danny Moore, Tracy Bledsoe, Crystal Moore, Heather Moore; four step-great-grandchildren; sister LaWanda Nell Vaughn, Pauls Valley Oklahoma; step-brother, Lowery Walker.
Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma; and his father.
