Obituary for Bertha Alvis Ladd
Bertha Ladd was born July 26, 1903 in Bell County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Willa (Grimes) Watts. She died August 28, 2002 in Altus, Oklahoma.
She married John Wesley Ladd on January 12, 1924 in Martha, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on January 27, 1949.
Bertha worked at Jackson County Memorial Hospital as PPX Operator for 25 years before retiring. She was very active at the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the UMW and was a church quilter. She also was a volunteer for the Museum of the Western Prairie, for Meals on Wheels, served as a dispatcher for S.W. Transit, loved to travel and adored her grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Jennie Martin of Graham, Texas, June Leathers and husband Dub of Crescent, Oklahoma and Juanell Wooldridge and husband Frank of Enid, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Wooldridge of Duncan, Oklahoma. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two grandsons, Steve Leathers and Mike Martin; and three sisters, Faye Kidd, Juanita Brown and Pearl Kidd.
Services for Bertha Ladd are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2002 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Burr and Rev Margie Van Oostrum officiating. Interment will follow at the Martha Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, Thursday, August 29, 2002 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorials in honor of Bertha Ladd may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Altus.
