Bertie Howard was born September 15th, 1982 in New Mexico to Anihias Martin and Codiela Evans Martin.. She Married John P. Howard October 2, 1902 in Texas. Bertie ran Altus Laundry for 37 years before her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and had been a resident o south west Oklahoma since the early 1900's.

Bertie is survived by two sons: John Howard of Reno, Nevada and Buster Howard of Altus, Oklahoma, one daughter; Fern McNeill of Altus, Oklahoma, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and seven great, great ,grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Essie Turner of Amarillo, Texas.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 18, 1982 with Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Inturment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
