Nursing was her lifelong calling; she knew she wanted to be a nurse by the time she was 10 years old. Beth worked at several hospitals while following Bill to different Army posts and finally settled in Mangum where she worked and retired from Mangum City Hospital. In retirement she worked for Jackson County Health Department and New Hope Recovery Center.
Beth was a lifelong member of The First United Methodist Church of Mangum, Oklahoma. She was very active in the Mangum community; she was a member of the Greer County Quilters Guild, “quilt till you wilt”, in addition to the “coffee crew” that met each morning. She was considered the local historian and contributed many volunteer hours to the Greer County Museum.
Beth was preceded in death by her husband William Henry Blood, parents Joe Boyd and Mayme Thompson.
She is survived by her four sons, David (Joann) Blood of Lawton, Oklahoma, Rick
(Ruth) Blood of Oldsmar, Florida, Shawn (Jennifer) Blood of Guymon, Oklahoma, and Steven (Carol) Blood of Norman, Oklahoma. Her legacy continues through 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Blake and bother Joe Boyd (Diane) Thompson.
Beth filled thousands of hearts with her unforgettable laugh, warmed many souls, healed many wounds as she followed God’s plan for her life and followed her calling of nursing. She wanted to be remembered as someone who had a good attitude, who was always smiling. She would say, “It takes a lot less energy to smile than it does to cry”. Her faith was not theatrical or detached; it was living faith in a loving Savior. Her faith produced tremendous works of righteousness.
