Betty June Brunhuber age 90, of Altus, passed away Sunday evening, April 19, 2015, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Brunhuber was born in Roosevelt, Oklahoma on October 7, 1924, to Carl and Ruby (Burton) Heien of Con 8. She attended school at Con 8, where she graduated and went on to attend college at Weatherford, Oklahoma. She later met Arthur T. Brunhuber, who was attending college for the Army Air Corps. They were married on September 10, 1943, and he preceded her in death on January 17, 1997 after fifty-four wonderful years of marriage. Betty was a homemaker for her husband and two sons all of her life. Betty was a cat lover who fed and cared not only for her cats, but for all the stray cats in the neighborhood. Betty thoroughly enjoyed working complex crossword puzzles and was part of a neighborhood group that sometimes worked the puzzles together.
Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Betty is survived by two sons, Arthur Thomas "Tommy" Brunhuber, Jr., of Altus and James Kenneth Brunhuber of Miami, Oklahoma; one sister, Elizabeth Wheeler and husband Elmer Gene of Colorado Springs, Colorado along with many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Betty Brunhuber will be at 10 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Altus City Cemetery with Pastor Lionel Mounce officiating. With Betty"s wishes, she was cremated and her cremation and interment have been entrusted to Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made, in Betty"s memory, to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
