Obituary for Beverly Reynolds Badger
Beverly Reynolds Badger, age 79, died Thursday, November 29th, 1984 morning at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Saturday morning at 9:00 A.M. with the Reverend Norman Nicholls officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Badger was born in Springer, NM on the 25th of July 1905. She attended Wm. Wood College and later took her degree in Home Economics from Oklahoma A&M (OSU) in 1929. Graduating in the same class was John S. Badger whom she married on June 5, 1930 in Trinidad, CO. They moved to Altus shortly after the wedding where they made their home.
Mrs. Badger, known as Bev to her many friends, will be remembered for her life long commitment to the Episcopal Church and more in particular, her long time work in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Altus. She faithfully served on the Altar Guild and participated in all church events for over 50 years. She was considered one of the Grand Matriarchs of the Episcopal Church in Altus. Outside her church, her close friends report that she was extensively involved in most community events, with a heavy interest in arts and humanities. Also being an avid reader she was involved with the Altus City Library in its early stages. She was a charter member of Altus P.E.O. and had many close personal friends of all ages.
Survivors include: her husband, John Badger of the home at 1000 E. Commerce; one son, John Badger, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; one brother, Matt Reynolds of Santa Fe, NM; six grandchildren, Catherine Elizabeth Fraser of Redwood City, CA, Mary Margaret Fraser of Altus, OK, Robert C. Fraser, Jr. of San Luis Obispo, CA, Randy Badger of Denver, CO, Lanie Swihart of Springfield, MO and Jennifer Badger of Altus, OK; three great-grandchildren.
