Billie Sue Harris, 70, of Altus, passed away peacefully at her home in Altus Saturday, January 17, 2009, with her family at her side.
Sue was born August 16, 1938, in Gould, Oklahoma, to Othar and Ethel (Faith) Stephens. She grew up in Gould and attended the Gould Schools until her junior year. Her family moved to Amarillo, Texas, during her senior year. She met the love of her life, Robert E. Harris, and they married June 16, 1956, in Amarillo. She and Bob moved to Altus and owned and operated the paddleboat concessions at Quartz Mountain State Park near Altus for twenty-five years. She was also a homemaker and loved to quilt with her many friends. Her greatest joy was spending time on what she called "fun days" with her grandchildren and the many others in her life. Sue was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus.
She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Harris of the home in Altus; four children, Robert Dale Harris and wife Mary of Mosquero, New Mexico, Darla Harris of Oklahoma City, Derrell M. Harris of Amarillo, Texas, and Stephen Harris and wife Christy of Altus; two sisters, Dorothy Teague and husband Jimmy of Amarillo, Texas, and Joyce Bates and husband Melvin of Altus; one brother, Jerry Stephens and wife Virginia of Gould, Oklahoma; her extended family, Eddie Stephens and wife Terah, along with their children, Rainie and Bradley of Austin, Texas, Renee Brooks and Annesha and Tiffany, Christine Buckley and Cash; four grandchildren, Kristina Stephens, Hunter Harris, Kaylor McIntyre, and Hannah Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Othar and Ethel Stephens; one daughter, Gail McIntyre on March 11, 2006; three brothers, Joe Stephens, Arvil Stephens, and Edward Stephens, and two sisters, Chloe Beth Moore and Theo Williams.

The family will greet friends Tuesday, January 20, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore and Chaplain Jesse Forrest officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Altus under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
