Obituary for Bonnie Fae Kirby
Bonnie "Oma" Fae Kirby, a cherished pillar of Duke, Oklahoma, bid farewell to this world on May 26, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of her family in the comfort of her home. Born on November 17, 1935, in Olustee, Oklahoma, to Porter and Alice Bilbrey, Bonnie's life radiated with love, faith, and compassion.
Raised in Victory, Oklahoma, Bonnie's journey was rooted in the values of hard work and kindness. She married her childhood sweetheart, Donnie Gene Kirby, on June 11, 1955, at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Altus, Oklahoma. Their love flourished, blossoming into a beautiful family with two children, Kent and Kyle.
Bonnie was the epitome of a nurturing homemaker, dedicating herself to her family's well-being. Her culinary skills were legendary, transforming every meal into a feast and her home into a haven of happiness. She extended her love beyond her own doorstep, embracing the neighborhood children as her own and ensuring no one left her presence hungry or unloved.
In 1976, Bonnie embarked on a professional journey as an orthodontic assistant, where her caring nature and gentle touch, and freshly painted nails brought comfort to many. Yet, her true joy lay in her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her kitchen, affectionately named "Sugar Lips Café," was a sanctuary of laughter, love, and homemade delights, where no one departed without a full heart and a satisfied appetite.
Bonnie's green thumb transformed her backyard into a sanctuary of beauty, complete with a serene Koi pond. Her meticulous attention to detail made it a backdrop for countless cherished memories, from graduations to weddings and family gatherings. She adorned her life with "pretties," cherishing each one as a testament to life's beauty.
Above all, Bonnie's heart belonged to her faith. She dedicated herself to praising the Lord and ensuring her loved ones found solace in the salvation offered by Jesus Christ. Her legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
As Bonnie journeys into eternity, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her grace. Though she may have left this earthly realm, her love remains an eternal beacon of light, guiding us through life's journey until we meet again in a heavenly reunion.
Receiving Bonnie at the Gates of Heaven were her mother and father Porter Bilbrey and Alice (Merchant) Bilbrey, her brother Cleo Bilbrey and his wife Helen, brother-in-law, Albert Tipton, Jr.  and her beloved husband of fifty-six years, Donnie Kirby.
