Obituary for Brother Joe Salazar
Brother Joe Saturinio Salazar, resident of Lawton, passed away on May 7, 2022 at the Comanche County Hospital in Lawton. Brother Salazar was 93 years when he entered into Heaven's gates.
Brother Salazar was born on December 14, 1928 in Springer, New Mexico to his parents, Eufracio Salazar and Fidelia Romero Salazar. He attended school and went on to serve his country by joining the United States Army. Joe achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant before honorably discharging in September of 1947. He went to college and earned his bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies shortly after at Rockmount College.
Brother Salazar met and married the love of his life Eileen. They were blessed with four children. Their devoted union spanned more than 50 years, until God called Eileen home.
Brother Salazar was an Ordained Minister in the Spanish Assembly of God. He labored in the ministry for over 45 years. During his religious journey, he held the position of Pastor in many places including: San Francisco, CA; Pittsburgh, PA; Hilo, HA; Phoenix, AZ; and Olustee, OK. He served as Presbyter for Pacific Latin American and Gulf Latin American districts and also served as youth counselor for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Most recently, he was a minister at the Spanish Assembly of God.
On a personal level, Brother Salazar loved his family and did his best to provide for and take care of them. In his spare time, he enjoyed baseball games, reading and singing. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, love and respect. His genuine heart and kind spirit will be missed by all who knew him and by the countless lives that he touched in a positive way.

Salazar of North Carolina; Ida Patricia Salazar and Ken Acox of Thorton, CO; Israel Salazar of Florida; and Reverend Abraham Salazar of Lawton, OK; two daughters-in-law: Delia Salazar and Carol Salazar; two sisters: Lillian "Bill" Silva and Barbara Salazar; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, as well nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and church family.
