C.H. "Cedar" Dennis, age 84, of Altus, passed away early Thursday morning, July 31, 2014, at his residence, in Altus
Mr. Dennis was born in Warren Oklahoma on May 17, 1930, to Cleatus H. and Betsy (Jenkins) Dennis. After graduating from Blair High School, in 1949, Cedar did farm work. On April 9, 1950, he married the love of his life, Rayma Lynne Elliott, and they spent the next sixty-four wonderful years together before his death. After their marriage, he worked for the railroad as a telegraph operator while living in Texas. The family later moved to California where he began a career in Heating and Air Conditioning that lasted many years. He and Rayma moved back to Oklahoma in 1988, where he lived until his death. In his spare time, Cedar enjoyed fishing, golfing, "windshield farming" and wood working. His prize accomplishment in his wood working was the grandfather clock that he made. A long-time member of the First Baptist Church, Cedar loved his family and spending time with them.
Preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joyce Brown, he is survived by his wife, Rayma, of the home; three children, Rhonda Harold of Altus, Dan Dennis and wife Dina of Altus and Brad Dennis of Blair; five grandchildren, John Harold of California, Jess Harold of California, Raymond Dennis of California, Nathan Dennis of California and Rebecca Dennis of Texas; two great grandchildren, Morley Harold and Elisha Harold; one sister, Louise Owen of Texas; one brother, Gene Dennis of New Mexico along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for C.H. "Cedar" Dennis will be at 11 a.m., Monday, August 4, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family will greet friends on Sunday from 5 until 6 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
