Obituary for Carl C. Jones
Carl C. Jones was born on February 4th, 1906, in Tulsa - Indian Territory, Oklahoma. He was married to Helen M. Bryant of Frederick on June 4, 1926 in the McFarlin Methodist Church in Norman, OK, the first couple to be married in that church. Carl and Helen moved to Altus, Oklahoma in 1927 where he worked for many years in the automobile business, first with the former Phipps & Snyder Ford and beginning in the early 1930's in his own firm. He was the Oldsmobile dealer in Altus for over 32 years. Carl retired from business in Altus in 1966. Upon retirement, Carl enjoyed traveling with his wife, visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing golf and cards and visiting and traveling with his many friends.
Carl was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church of Altus, the Scottish Rite of Oklahoma, the Kiwanis Club and the Altus Country Club.
He passed away in the Denver area on October 20, 1996, where he moved this past March to be closer to his son and family.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Helen, who passed away in Altus on January 6, 1974.
He is survived by: his sister, Pauline Veidt of Austin, TX; several nephews and one niece; his son, Paul C. Jones and daughter-in-law June Stanton Jones of Golden, CO; four adult grandchildren and their spouses; 11 great-grandchildren, who live in Colorado and Arizona.
