Obituary for Carl Mack Norris
Carl Mack Norris was born March 13, 1912 in Eastland, Texas. He was the son of the late Fred A. and Dora Alice (Morren) Norris. Carl died July 29, 1999 in Altus, Oklahoma. He married Irene Elizabeth Buchanan May 14, 1955 in Altus, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death in 1989.

Carl spent most of his life in Jackson County. He was a long time member of the Primitive Baptist Church. He as retired from Civil Service. Carl was a veteran of World War II. He served with the 45th Battalion in Italy, Africa, and Sicily. He was awarded the Bronze Star for valor. He was the 1st man to volunteer from Eldorado and the 2nd man to volunteer from Jackson County when World War II broke out. He was a member of the American Legion and of the VFW. Carl also worked with the C C Camp and helped to build the 1st road into the Grand Canyon. Carl was known for his love of children.

Survivors include one daughter; Carla Shults and Allen of Enid, Oklahoma; three step daughters, The Rev. Ila Mayes and Clay of Wichita Falls, Texas; Pauline Gilnick of San Antonio, Texas, el Denna Horton and Tommy of Grandbury, Texas, two brothers Buddy Norris and Margaret of Espanola, New Mexico, Leonard Norris and Opal of Espanola, New Mexico, three sisters Nadine Coburn of Chillicothe, Texas, Eudene Bolsinger of Mustang, Oklahoma, Ruth Freeman of Altus, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, thirty-five step grand and great-grandchildren.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 4 brothers and 1 sister and by one step son.

Services are scheduled for 4 pm Saturday, July 31, 1999 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Rev. H.O. Ballard officiating. Interment will follow in the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
