Obituary for Carol Jeanne Scivally
Carol Jean (Turner) Scivally age 86, of Mangum, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Mangum Regional Hospital.
Carol Jean was born in Mangum, Oklahoma on February 12, 1934 to Carroll E. and Winona (Elkins) Turner. She was raised and educated in Mangum and graduated from Mangum High School in 1952 where she was the Majorette for the Tiger Pride Marching Band. Following high school, she attended Draughon Business School in Oklahoma City. On April 5, 1953 she married James “Jim” Scivally, Jr. at the First United Methodist Church in Mangum where she was a lifelong member. They were married for over sixty-one years. During their marriage they lived in England, Utah, California, Arkansas and Texas to name a few. She worked for thirty years as an Executive Assistant in aerospace contract law and program management. Upon Jim’s retirement in 1997, they returned to Mangum. Carol Jean was an accomplished musician playing the piano for the Glee Club and Sunday school class at the First United Methodist Church. Carol Jean enjoyed music, reading, and being with family. She also loved watching Oklahoma Sooners football. Carol Jean held a special place in her heart for animals and supported many different charities. She will be remembered as a sweet, generous, stylish lady with a witty flair.

Preceded in death by her husband Jim, father Carroll Turner, mother Winona Edmondson, stepfather C. F. Edmondson and sister Mary Kathryn (Edmondson) Avery,
Carol Jean is survived by nieces; Cristie Miller and fiancé Cole Williams of Mangum, Holly Rogers and husband Michael of Mangum, Bonnie Clark and husband Joe of Vinson, Oklahoma. She is also survived by great nieces Tana Miller, Sarah Rogers, Nicole Rogers, Jacey Clark, Josey Clark, great nephew Avery Rogers, brother in law Danny Avery, goddaughters; Mary Liz Holmes of Woodbridge, Virginia, Carolyn McLucas of Daleville, Virginia, a lifelong friend Carolyn Shumaker and a host of cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be 10:00 A.m. Saturday, May 22, 2020 at Riverside Cemetery, Mangum, Oklahoma with Reverend David Gordon officiating.

Services are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home, Mangum, Oklahoma.
