Carol Ray Wood, 69, Gould, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Ray was born on August 24, 1955, in Hollis, Oklahoma to Adam Lavaughn and Maude Inez (Ward) Wood. He grew up in Hollis and attended the Ron and Arnett schools. He was baptized in the Faith Baptist Church. Ray married Mary Eakes on Oct.25, 1973 in Hollis, Oklahoma. He started his career for Harmon County as a heavy equipment operator and retired after working there for 28 years. Ray also worked at Lancer Mobile Home for a few years. He enjoyed motorcycles, racing cars, coon hunting, horses, and cattle.
His parents and a sister, Frances Inez Bennefield, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his two sons, Adam LaRay Wood and James Damon Wood and wife, Tara; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Koda, and Allyssa Wood, Ashlee (Wood) Garic, Macgwire Wood, Jaycee Ketchum, and Delaney Wood; three great grandchildren, Delilah, Isabelle, and Waylon; his siblings, Velma Joyce Hubanks and husband, George; Preston Wood, Syble Sanderson and husband, Randy, Kenneth Wood and wife, Melissa, Dana Tompkins and husband, Eddie, Debra Wood, and Mark Wood.
The Wood family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Harmon County Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 29, 2025, in the Harmon County Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Tutten officiating. Services and cremation are under the care of the Harmon County Funeral Home.
