Obituary for Carol Yvonne New
Carol Yvonne New was born to Neal and Deonne Morris on March 22, 1958, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She lived in Milpitas, California until 1969 when they moved to Granite, Oklahoma. Carol attended Granite School and remained in the community where she and Stan Berry, united in marriage on June 3, 1974, raised their three sons.

Carol was known for being a hard worker with always having multiple jobs. She worked at the Granite Drug Store and had an in-home daycare for several years. From 1983 until 1992, she worked at Farmers and Merchants Bank in Granite. In 1992, she began her career at Granite Public Schools. Her job at the school was not a job. It was a calling. Carol had a passion and unconditional love for all the students that ever walked the halls of Granite Schools. She had the gift of making each student, fellow co-worker, friend, or family member feel loved. She is known for being kind and welcoming to every person she encountered and never met a stranger. She was known as "nana" to many children. Carol had an uncanny ability and genuine heart for connecting with others. She had the most contagious laugh that could be heard throughout the hallways from her office. Carol loved her career at Granite Public School and was honorably awarded the 2013-2014 yearbook dedication. When she retired, in 2017, she left an endless legacy. Legacy is not leaving something for people. It's leaving something IN people.

One of the happiest days of her life was the day she married Delvin New. May 29, 2010, her eyes sparkled, her smile was everlasting, and her heart was complete. With this union, Carol gained four beautiful daughters. She loved them as her own and their children shared her heart. Delvin and Carol moved to Beaumont, Kansas, in January of 2017.

Carol is preceded in death by her father, Neal Morris.

She is survived by her husband, Delvin New of the home; Three sons and their families, Russell and Missy, Trey, Kennedy, and Charlie Belle Berry of Granite, Oklahoma, Casey and Angela, Jace, Quade, and Cali Berry of Granite, Oklahoma Matt and Jennifer, Alyssa Berry of Pleasanton, Texas; Four daughters and their families, Jenny and Derek, Aspen, Presley, and Bregs Grandfield of Wichita, Kansas, Brandi New and Dominik, Lilia, and Kasyn of Wichita, Kansas, Maranda New of Leon, Kansas, and Sarah New and Henley of Leon, Kansas; Her Mother, Deonne Morris of Hominy, Oklahoma; Sisters, Mari Jackson and husband Bob of Cordell, Oklahoma , Darlene Swain and husband John, of Cleveland, Oklahoma; One brother, Larry Morris of Elk City, Oklahoma; As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol was a phenomenal mother who possessed reserves of strength and patience that seem infinite. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She never missed a ball game or school event. She would drive hours just to watch one game. Nana Carol was their constant and biggest fan. She regarded them as her greatest accomplishments. Carol was the heart of our family, the center of our universe, and the greatest example of unconditional love we could've hoped to have. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and joyful spirit. Her life was a blessing to all. Carol's memory will forever be a treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
