Obituary for Cecil Allen Sanders
Cecil Allen Sanders, Sr., age 73, of Altus, Oklahoma, was born January 23, 1923, in Wood County, Texas, the son of the late William Sanders and Rosie Lee (Duff) Sanders. Mr. Sanders passed away Thursday, December 5th, 1996 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, December 9, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Lt. Robert Daniels, Commanding Officer of the Altus Salvation Army officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
Mr. Sanders moved to Altus in 1964 from Dallas, TX. On July 11, 1968, he and Lillian Bernice (Ikner) were united in marriage at Decatur, TX. Cecil was a retired farmer. He was a longtime member of the American Legion, D.A.V. and Salvation Army. Mr. Sanders served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
The family will be receiving friends, Sunday December 8, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
Survivors include: his wife, Lillian Bernice Sanders of the home; three children, Cecil Sanders, Jr. and wife Chong of Plano, TX, Marie Biddle and husband James of Carrollton, TX and Deloise Ann Gray of Trinity, TX; Step-Sons, Gerald Dean Johnson and wife Laura of Mississippi and Larry Dean Johnson of Repton, AL; one brother, Travis Sanders of Clute, TX; one sister, Minnie Greer of Altus, OK; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Bertha Hammonds; one brother, Dee Sanders; two step-sons, Billy Ray Johnson and James Arnold Luker.
