Memorial services for Cecil Bluford Edgemon, 79, Lawton, will be at 1pm Tuesday in The Little Chapel of Lawton, with Dr. Charles Green officiating.
Me. Edgemon died Thursday in a Lawton hospital following a lengthly illness.
Burial will be in the Victory Cemetery, west of Altus, under direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
He was born October 12, 1914, in Pottawatomie County. He grew up in Floydada, Texas, attended school and graduated from Floydada High School in 1931. The family then moved to Lawton. He was employed by the Civil Service Conservation Corps for the state o Oklahoma for approximately five years. He served in military service during World War II in Flagstaff, Arizona, for four years. He later transferred to Fort Sill.
He married Mattie Pearl Austin on July 7, 1940, in Duncan. He was promoted and held the rank of major for the automotive ordinance supply unit as superintendent over all wartime automotive artillery and vehicle units where he served for five years. In early 1944, he was employed by Buster Wyatt Lincoln Mercury dealership and served as parts and certified service manager for 16 tears. From 1960 to 1975, he was employed by Eddie Cordes American Motors dealership as service manager technician. In 1976, he was employed for a year by Fred Jones Lincoln Mercury dealership, Oklahoma City. He then retired and he and his wife returned to their home in Lawton.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Sharon Kay Edgemon, Lawton and Arlington, Texas; a stepdaughter, Jean Contway, Arlington; a brother, Elmer Edgemon, Lawton, and two stepgrandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the local American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.
