Obituary for Charles David Onan
Charles David Onan, 79,of Duke, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Charles was born August 17, 1933 to J. Herbert and Iva (Buck) Onan on the family farm just north of Duke, Oklahoma.

In July 1963, Charles married the love of his life, Anne Bennett. To this union were born two children. Dana Denise and Tammy Nell. Charles was also the proud father of son David Delynn Onan and a daughter Terry Leigh Onan Smith.

Charles spent most of his life as a career rail roader working on passenger trains early in his career, and then later for the MKT, Santa Fe, and the local Hollis and Eastern Railroads. He retired from railroading in 1987. From early in life, as a 4-H and FFA member in Duke, Oklahoma, Charles was also a long time farmer and rancher. He worked at this a long side his father for many years, and then continued farming and ranching with Anne at his side until late in life. Charles also loved fishing and big holiday gatherings with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at his home in Duke, Oklahoma.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents his sister Nell Lane, and his wife of 45 years, Anne.
Charles was a kind man, a steadfast friend, and devoted family man. He is survived by his four children, Tammy Brooks and husband Greg of Granite, Oklahoma; Dana DeSapio and husband Noel of Cedar Park, Texas; David Onan and wife, Patty of Sarasota, Florida; Terry Leigh Smith and husband, Don of Sarasota, Florida; seven grandchildren, Brittany Garrison and Daniel Jenkins of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Ashton Morales and husband Anthony of Cedar Park, Texas; Brandon DeSapio of San Marcus, Texas; Kirby Cox and husband Jon of Manitou, Oklahoma; Brady Brooks of Granite Oklahoma; Christiana Onan of Lawton, Oklahoma Parker Raye Smith of Sarasota, Florida; six great grandchildren; Carter Cox, Mason Morales, Jax and Aiden Jenkins, Nicholas Onan and Dillon Onan Herron.

Charles will be dearly missed by his family and friends who were so blessed to have been a part of his life.
Memorial services for Charles Onan will be Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the First Baptist Church, Duke, Oklahoma officiated by Rev. BenVanVacter.
