Charles Eugene Matthews, 56, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2000, at his home in Altus.
Charles was born December 19, 1943, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Virgil Tilson and Jewel Mae (Maxwell) Matthews. He moved from Earlsboro, Oklahoma to Altus in 1998 to be near his family. He loved to play dominoes and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by eight sisters, Virgie Stayton and her husband Ed, of Altus, Carolyn Steward of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Martha Rodriguez and her husband Henry of Altus, Aconia Allen of Altus, Rose Linda Gonzalez of McKinney, Texas, Doretta Fay Hayes and her husband Carroll of Sulphur Oklahoma, Norma Deal Miller of Ada, Oklahoma. and Jamesey Lynn Horton also of Ada; two brothers, Frankie Borboa of Sulphur, and Billy Joe Borboa of Ada; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother in 1971 and his father in 1969.
Graveside Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 11, 2000 at the Altus City Cemetery with Reverend Larry Ortega officiating. Arrangements are with Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
