Charlie Edsel "Ed" Robinson, age 80, retired Command Sergeant Major, United States Army, passed away at his home in Gould, Oklahoma, Monday morning, March 27, 2017.

Ed was born in Gould, Oklahoma on August 9, 1936 to his parents Charlie Crawford Robinson and Fern Omega (Roberts) Robinson. In 1957 he joined the United States Army and served his country for over thirty years achieving the highest enlisted rank of Command Sergeant Major. He served three tours in Vietnam and received numerous awards, decoration, and unit citations to include; the Legion of Merit; the Bronze Star with Oakleaf Cluster; the Purple Heart; the Meritorious Service Medal; the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm; the Republic Vietnam Honor Medal; the Army Commendation Medal; the Vietnam Service Medal with Eight Campaign Stars; the Air Assault Badge, and the Combat Infantry Badge. After his retirement from the Army he was in the Civil Service and worked at Tinker Air Force Base, Beaufort, South Carolina, and at Altus Air Force Base. Ed always enjoyed being around dogs especially German Shepherds and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Ed was a true American hero and served his country with honor and distinction and he will be missed very much.

Preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister; two grandchildren, R.C. Jones and Dalton Fry; Ed is survived by his wife Judy Robinson of Eldorado; two sons, Rene" Marcel Robinson and wife Karen of Florida; and Eddie Wayne Robinson and wife Cindy of Oregon; four daughters, Jo-Ellen Keelin and husband David of Gould; Jeannie Lea Nolan and husband Doug of Washington; Jamie Fern Robinson and husband Joe of Hollis; and Samantha Castaneda and husband Mike of Hollis; two step-children, Lee Chennault and wife Michelle of Eldorado; and Eula Jan Rippy and husband Patrick of Indiana; one brother, Donald Ray Robinson and wife Charlotte of Gould; thirteen grandchildren, Kyle Robinson, Marcus Robinson, Cruz Robinson, Summer Robinson, Kendall DeHaas, Mikayla DeHaas, Andrew Nolan, Rosalie Beardsley, Makala Buffington, Nikole Benavidez, Bridget Castaneda, Jayden Castaneda, Aubree Castaneda, Caleb Dakota Jones, Cameron Chennault, Chalee Chennault, and Andrew Copper; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

The family will greet friends at visitation from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, April 3, 2017 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Richard Ridley officiating.

Interment will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma following funeral services at 1:00 pm with military honors rendered by the Fort Sill Honors Detail.
