Obituary for Charlie Raymond Scratchard
Memorial services for Charles Raymond Scratchard of Lawton be held at 11:00am Saturday, July 14, 2001 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Tamarack Road in Altus. Services will be conducted by his brother-in-law, Charlie Dilahunty, Elder of N.W. Church of Christ in Lawton. Charles passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2001 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born May 27, 1930.
He is survived by his wife Chris Scratchard of Lawton, Oklahoma; two sons, Jack Scratchard and wife Pam, Phillip Scratchard and wife Tony; two daughters, Colleen Klock and husband David all of Pennsylvania and a daughter, Brenda Scratchard of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two stepsons, Chip Latham and wife Belinda of Charleston, SC and Dean Latham of Oklahoma City OK; a brother, Darwin Scratchard and wife Beth Ann of South Lake, Texas; one sister, Beverly Spinelli of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, loving aunts and uncles and a multitude of loving friends.
Charles spent 14 years in the Air Force and retired from 30 years of Civil service, serving as Fire Chief at Altus Air Force Base at the time of his retirement. He then retired from 10 years as a State of Oklahoma employee.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge #62 of Altus, the Scottish Rite Valley of Guthrie and the India Temple Shrine of Oklahoma. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of St. Paul's episcopal Church of Altus. He was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rod. He will be deeply missed in our lives and will never be forgotten by family and friends.
