Obituary for Cheyrl Patricia Floyd
Cheyrl Patricia (Ricard) Floyd, age 50, passed away January 14, 2009, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma.
Cheyrl was born November 7, 1958, in Vacherie, Louisiana, to Helen (Rock) Ricard and the late Emile Joseph Ricard, Jr. She completed nursing school at Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans and further trained at Emory University where she became a Certified Nurse Practitioner in OB/GYN. She worked as a Nurse Practitioner in Florida for seventeen years. After arriving in Altus, she worked as a part time school nurse in the area. In addition to her job as a school nurse, Cheyrl was a scrap booker, mentor, Eucharistic minister, Band Mom, Sports Team Mom, and school volunteer.
Cheyrl is survived by her husband of twenty-four years, Ira L. Floyd; one daughter, Kayla Marie Floyd; one son Kristopher Phillip Floyd, all of Altus; her mother, Helen Ricard of Vacherie, Louisiana; mother-in-law, Verdell Floyd of Fort Pierce, Florida; sister, Lori Carnovale and husband John of Crosby, Texas, sister, Shaun Saizan and husband Darrell of New Orleans, Louisiana, brother, Mark Ricard of Bangkok, Thailand, sister, Avis Sherman and husband Leo of Porter, Texas; her aunt, Lydia Ricard of Vacherie, Louisiana; a sister-in-law, Carmen Fields of Fort Pierce, Florida, and a brother-in-law, Leroy Floyd, also of Fort Pierce, Florida. Cheyrl is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her father, Emile Ricard, Jr., preceded her in death in 1997.
Cheyrl touched many lives and will be greatly missed until we are all reunited with her in Heaven.
The family will greet friends Friday, January 16, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, which will be followed by the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Chapel. There will also be family visitation at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Saturday, January 17 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009, Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Reverend Joseph Sundar Padota officiating. Burial will take place on Monday, January 19 at the St. Phillip Catholic Church Mausoleum in Vacherie, Louisiana.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude"s Children"s Hospital or a charity of choice.
