Obituary for Claire Lorriane (Stephenson) Fortune
Claire Lorraine Fortune, age 82 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Friday, July 15th. 2021
Claire was born in Tacoma, Washington January 18, 1939 to Violet and Fred Stephenson. She and her 11 siblings grew up in University Place, Washington and she attended Clover Park High School and Pacific Lutheran College.
She met Robert (Bob) Fortune while he was stationed at the McChord AFB in Washington, and they married on Feb 12, 1960. They then moved to Houston, Texas where they raised their two sons Darrell and Darrin. She also lived in Tacoma (WA), Gonzales (TX), and Altus (OK).
Throughout her life, one of her passions was serving in her local church. Claire loved teaching Sunday school to preschoolers and singing in the church choir. She went on several mission trips and served as a child advocate (CASA). She was also a den mother in cub scout, and very involved in her sons’ sports leagues.
Claire is preceded in death by her husband Bob, son Darrin, her parents and siblings Marjorie, George, Ed, Wilfred, Leroy, Neil, Laurel, and Forest. Claire is survived by three siblings Naomi, Gael and Lyle, her son Darrell Fortune and wife Tracy, granddaughters Brittney Piper and husband Michael, and Shawnalise Fortune, as well as two great grandchildren Elise and Silas Piper and many other relative and friends.

There will be a memorial service for Claire Fortune on Tuesday, July 20,2021 at First Baptist Church in Altus at 2pm.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 24, 2011 at the Woodmen of the World Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas under the direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, 906 Saint Paul Street, Gonzales, TX 78629, Phone: 830-672-3232
