Obituary for Claude Pete Tidwell
Rev Claude Alfred (Pete) Tidwell, 91, formerly of Altus, died Tuesday, Jan 13, 2004 in a Midwest City Hospital. Rev Tidwell was born Dec 30, 1912 in Point, Texas. He was the son of the late John and Maggie (Taylor) Tidwell. Pete moved to the Altus area in 1927 with his parents. He retired from the Altus School System and also pastored several churches in the area. He served his country during World War II in the Engineer Corps of the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He married Ruby Goolsby and was married for 65 years before Ruby preceded him in death in 1995.
Survivors include: two sons, James Tidwell and wife Nancy of Wichita, Kansas and Bill Tidwell and wife Jody of Newalla, Oklahoma; one daughter, Loreda Russell of Copperas Cove, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Mike, Steve, Tammy, David and Dirk tidwell and Wayne, Jim and Don Russell; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Oscar Tidwell of Altus, Oklahoma; one sister, Helen Bonds of Altus, Oklahoma.
Services for Rev. Claude Alfred "Pete" Tidwell are scheduled for Saturday, Jan 17, 2004 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. David Chittenden officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery.
The family will greet friends Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
