Cleo Samuel Creecy, 76, of Altus died at his home Wednesday morning after an extended illness. A Rosary will be held Thursday evening at 7:00pm at the Lowell Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be Friday at 2:00pm in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.

Born October 1, 1913 in Wichita Falls, Creecy was the son of Joseph and Ada Creecy. He attended school in Wichita Falls graduating in 1934. Creecy was of the most spectacular players on the Wichita Falls Coyote football team in 1932-34 making all-district in 1933 and 1934 along with honorable mention on the mythical all-state team. After leaving Wichita Falls in 1936, he played with the Long Beach California College where they won the Junior College Title. After completing his education in Criminology he returned to the Wichita Falls area where he was a member of the Wichita Falls police force. Creecy retired from the MKT Railroad and moved to Altus in 1965. He was a union member of the UTU-AFLCIO and a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Survivors include, his wife Emmie H. Creecy of the home, one son, Joseph Boyd Creecy of Altus, one foster brother, J.L. Creecy of Texarkana, Texas; a daughter Sandra Nell Creecy preceded him in death in 1964.
