Clifford Lavern Martin was born September 30, 1918 in Duke, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Charlie Lee and Leila Amanda (Smith) Martin. He died March 6, 2013 at his home in Duke, Oklahoma.

He married his wife Christina August 3, 1946 in Vernon, Texas. He served during World War II in the United States Navy and later transferred to the Seabees. Lavern was wounded in the Phillipines and received the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in November, of 1945. Lavern returned to Duke, Oklahoma following the War. He was a carpenter by trade, and faithful hard working husband.
Survivors include his wife Christina of the home in Duke, two children, Phyllis Vickers and husband, Steve, of Maryland; Craig Martin and wife, Kathy, of Payson, Arizona; Paul Davis his life long friend of Duke, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Todd Hedge, Torrie Bradfield, Christin Wade; Chad Martin; five great grandchildren.
Lavern was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Milton, Gordon, Garvis and Byrl Martin.
