Obituary for Clifford Stowe

Clifford "Buddy" Stowe, age 91, of Mangum, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 30, 2013, at Grace Living Center of Mangum, Oklahoma.
Clifford was born in Mangum, Oklahoma, on June 27, 1921, to A. C. Sr. and Minnie (Fluty) Stowe. During his childhood, Clifford attended school at City View while growing up in Greer County area. While in school, Clifford boxed for the Mangum City Boxing team. He would later join the Army, where he proudly served his country During World War II. After returning home from the Army, Clifford began working for Allis Chalmers, where he worked as a mechanic and serviced tractors and farm equipment for well over twenty years, he was also employed by Houck Farm and Drilling and the Pigg Farm. Clifford was also employed by the Army Corps of Engineers, where he worked on the construction of the damn at Lake Altus. On January 12, 1952, Clifford would marry Alma Boone and they would spend the next 62 wonderful years together before her death in 2010. Clifford had many hobbies, such as going to the horse races, training horses, working on old cars and spending time with his family and close friends.
He preceded in death by his wife; parents; one grandson, Kevin Dewayne Stowe; eight siblings, Estell Stowe, Verna Stowe, Reba Jones, Creola Bell, Mildred Jordan, Clarence Stowe, Garvin Stowe and A. C. Stowe Jr.. Clifford is survived by five children, Ann Steverson and husband Ron of Tulsa, Billy Stowe of Mangum, Danny Stowe and wife Debbie of Mangum, Judy Hopper and husband Allen of Mountain View, Oklahoma and Sheila Kerbo and husband Jerry of Mangum; one sister, Loretta Payne of Tupelo, Mississippi; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Clifford "Buddy" Stowe will be at 10:30 a.m., May 3, 2013, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel in Mangum with Darrell Coffman officiating and under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
