Obituary for Connie Rhae Meeler
Connie Rhae Meeler, 83, Altus, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Connie Rhae was born on December 31, 1941, in Littlefield, Texas to Hugh Ray and Ima Mae Nall. She grew up in Abilene, Texas and attended school there. She met and married William R. Meeler in Abilene, Texas on May 23, 1958, while he was serving in the United States Air Force.
Connie worked as a homemaker and after her children started high school, she pursued working outside of the home. Connie's positions included working at the Altus AFB Bowling lanes as a lanes clerk, the Ramada Inn Hotel as a desk manager/clerk and the City of Altus in the Court Clerks office. In the late 1980's, Connie and Bill (affectionately known as Granny and Pops) began a career of jointly managing Town and Country Bowling Lanes and the snack bar before retiring in 2005.
Connie was a faithful member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She enjoyed many years of bowling in several leagues/tournaments, traveling to casinos, playing bingo and spending time watching her grandchildren in various activities.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, Hugh Ray Nall; her mother, Ima Mae Smith; and her brother, Earl Dwayne Nall.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, William "Bill" Meeler; her son, William "Billy" Meeler Jr.; two daughters, Brenda Reinke and husband, Harry, and Debbie Kay Bateman; seven grandchildren, Randy, Dana, H.R, Desirae, Brent, Kevin and Mark; twelve great grandchildren, Brooke, Dante, Alexia, Briley, Maggie, Levi, Knox, Tripp, Duke, Huck, Josie, and Hallie Jo; one great-great granddaughter, Azara; and many other family members.
A rosary will be 6:00 PM Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation to follow around 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph David and Deacon Eulis Mobley officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Connie's name to the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Hospice and Home Health at PO Box 1139, Altus, OK 73521, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate, or to the Shriner's Hospital for Children at lovetotherescue.org.
