Obituary for Coy Grimes
Funeral Services for Coy Grimes, lifelong Jackson County resident, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 1998 at the First Methodist Church of Altus. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery. Rev Ken Pate will officiate.

Mr. Grimes was 81-years-old at the time of his death. Mr. Grimes passed away January 23rd, 1998 in Oklahoma City. Mr. Grimes was born January 2nd, 1917 in Jackson County to Atho and Daisy (Johnson) Grimes. He married Ruby Hughes June 30, 1940 in Martha. Mr. Grimes was a member of the First Methodist Church of Altus, as well as a member of the Elks Lodge.

Mr. Grimes was a cotton producer and was elected to the PCCA board in 1963, it's first board. Mr. Grimes was chairman of the PCCA board from 1987 until his retirement in 1995. Mr. Grimes, while serving on the PCCA board, was instrumental in the development and expansion of the TELCOT system of cotton marketing, the development of the electronic title system, the establishment of the pool marketing for Oklahoma and West Texas, and the acquisition of the denim mill at Littlefield, Texas. Lowell Tims Funeral Homis is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include: his wife, Ruby Grimes of the home; two sons, Terry Grimes of Faison, NC and Phil Grimes and wife Leta of Mustang, OK; two grandchildren, Kristy Yeargain and husband Dwane of Ozark, MO and Stefanie Woodard and husband Ryan of Yukon, OK; and one great-granddaughter, Kaelyn Woodard of Yukon, OK.
