Obituary for Danny Ray Hall
Danny Ray Hall passed from this life on August 28th, 2023. He will be remembered as a beacon of wisdom with a tender heart and the extraordinary ability to make those around him feel truly special. He loved good music, old cars, and every sensation of a soft gentle rain. His dog, Jude, was his faithful companion through the most difficult of times and a soul which he deeply treasured. His land was far more than soil and seeds, as it gave him a sense of peace and wonder. Over the years, his cattle became animals for which he cared deeply and managed in the most gentle and humane ways possible. Danny loved trees, and although his soil was interlaced with gyp rock, and the hot dry wind blew especially hard at his home, he managed to grow beautiful trees, with oak being his favorite.
Danny was a loving and dedicated husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and uncle; and he will be remembered for the extraordinary force of love he was to his family. He was also a kind and generous friend who valued other people and brought joy to all who knew him.
Danny's life includes many experiences and places that made him happy. He grew up south of Duke, hunting and fishing along the banks of Turkey Creek. Throughout his years, he sang and played bass guitar with a number of bands. He especially loved performing with Vickie and his two younger sisters and their husbands, Risa and Ken Darby, and Dana and Richard Darby. As a young man he began custom wheat harvest, making friends from Dodge City, KS, along the badlands of Nebraska and South Dakota, all the way into Saskatchewan Canada. Farming was in his blood, and he was so proud to spend every wheat harvest working along side his dad, Roland, whom he thought to be the greatest man to ever walk the earth. Danny also took great pride in the time he served as a Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy and the Olustee Police Chief. With his son, Dantz, he started Turkey Creek Trucklines and K.N.A. Custom Services, both of which grew to become successful businesses. When he could slip away, he loved going to the drag races and taking family trips to Colorado to enjoy the cool mountain air and the magnificent forests of pine.
Danny was born on July 29, 1948, to Roland and Ruth (Young) Hall and, even after childhood, remained close with his brother and sisters, Gary, Sharron, Risa and Dana. On November 18th, 1968, he married Vickie Brawley, who loved him with every ounce of her being. He was adored by his children, Monica and Dantz, and quickly gained the affection of his son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Chris Claussen and Summer Berry Hall. This deep sense of love and admiration lives on in his grandchildren, Aspen Stephens and her husband Trenton, and Celie Hall; and Noah, Cole and Skye Hall Claussen. The love he shared will continue to be passed along to his great grandchildren: Kamry Saige Claussen, Truitt Ray Stephens, and all those to come. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Roland, and his sister, Sharron Schnorrenberg.
Danny Hall, we will love you forever. Rest in peace.
