Altus Times Obituary of David Lawrence Morrill (12/11/11)
David L. Morrill, 55, of Altus, died December 11, 2011, after a miraculous battle with lung cancer. He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 22, 1956, to the late Helen C. (Dickie) and Lawrence W. Morrill. David was a 1974 graduate of Leicester (MA) High School and enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1975. Having achieved the rank of Sergeant (E5), he was honorably discharged in 1982, after serving at MCB Camp Lejeune, NC; Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni, Japan; and New River Marine Corps Air Station, NC.
After working as a Computer Technician for NASA in Guam, David returned to his native Massachusetts working for several well-known establishments in the semiconductor industry including Digital Equipment Corporation, Quantum Corporation and Intel. Upon leaving Intel, he started a home improvement business, realizing a lifelong dream. When the Massachusetts economy no longer provided the opportunity he sought, he journeyed, in late 2003, to Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX, for a position with L3 Communications, a Division of Raytheon Corporation, and subsequently transferred, in 2005, to the US Civil Service at Altus AFB, serving as a civilian PMEL Tech specializing in microwave electronics for the US Air Force until his illness forced him into a disability retirement early in 2011.
David is survived by his new wife, cherished friend and caregiver, Cheryl Ann (Titus) Brodeur; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen M. and William R. Parenteau, of Chicopee, MA; his parents-in-law, Mary S. (Saieta) and Frank E. Titus, of Rumford, RI; his brother-in-law, Alan W. Titus, of East Providence, RI; three nephews, one niece, one great-niece and three great nephews, and many cousins in the Worcester, MA area; David"s beloved dogs, Mollie Mae and Millicent Maud of Uxbridge, MA and Melanie Marie and Mariah Meredith of Altus, OK; and his new cat, Magnolia Chocolat, also of Altus.
Visitation will be held at on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, 1100 East Tamarack Rd., Altus. Friends are invited to attend David"s Funeral Mass and celebration of his life on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1500 Falcon Rd., Altus. A Marine Honor Guard will provide the Military Honors at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church following the service.
