Obituary for David Luna
David Luna, 68, resident of Altus, passed away on March 27, 2022 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma. May he forever rest in God's loving embrace.
David was born on October 31, 1953 in Olton, Texas to his parents Inez Luna and Henrietta (Rivera) Luna. He grew up in Hollis, Oklahoma and attended school there where he was active in football. On December 28, 1974, David married the love of his life, Diana Lynn Martinez. Their blessed union spanned over 47 years.
David honored his country by serving in the United States Army National Guard. He was a part of the Thunderbirds in the 45th Infantry Division. He received recognition for his meritorious service. David dedicated 33 years of service to the American Gypsum Plant in Duke, OK. He operated a forklift and performed many other task during his time there and eventually retired.
Away from work, David enjoyed going fishing, shopping trips to Walmart, Harley Davidson motorcycles and spending time with his beloved family, especially, his grandkids. He was truly devoted to his loved ones. He defended and protected them with all he had and cherished every moment with them. A man of great faith, David was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hollis. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work and sincerity to be carried on and never forgotten by those who knew him.
Meeting David at Heaven's gates are his parents: Inez and Henrietta Luna; his daughter, Sylvia Lynn Vargas in 2014; his brother and his sister.
Remaining to forever remember David are his dear wife Diana Lynn Luna, of their home; his two sons: David Luna Jr., of Altus, OK and Daniel Inez Luna of Elk City, OK; 8 brothers and sisters; 10 grandchildren: Just Leigh Luna; Peyton Lynch, Kyla Luna; Faith Vargas; Braden Luna; Kaycee Luna; Harley Luna; Hazel Luna; Aiden Luna; and Remmington Luna; 2 great- grandchildren: Oliver Macias and Joslyn Gloria; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives, co-workers, and friends.
