Obituary for Delbert Smith
Delbert Smith, age 48, of Olustee, Oklahoma, died early Tuesday, February 16th, 1988 morning at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services have been set for Thursday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at Lowell Memorial Chapel in Altus, officiated by Bill Osborne and The Reverend C.W. Ramsey. Burial will be in the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.

Born December 25, 1939 in Elmer, OK, the son of Albert and Lanell Smith. He attended school at Southside, graduating in 1957. He moved to Olustee and later married Janice Doughten September 8, 1968. Smith was active in most community affairs in Olustee where he was a member of the Olustee City Council, Volunteer Fire Department, Civil Defense, and a Little League Coach. At his death he was employed with M&S Motor Parts in Altus. For many years he was also a member of the Oklahoma National Guard.

Survivors include: his wife, Janice Smith of the home; one daughter, Deborah Jan Smith of the home; one son, Tracy Dale Smith of the home; his Mother and Father, Albert and Lanell Smith of Olustee; five brothers and sisters, Retta Triplett of Eldorado, Carolyn Cotton of Eldorado, Teresa Spann of Altus, Lesa Lewis of Houston, TX and Kevin Smith of Olustee. He is also survived by his Father and Mother-in-law, Guy and Lena Doughten of Eldorado; his brother-in-law, Charles Doughten of Ft. Worth, TX; 11 nieces and nephews.
