Obituary for Denver NMN Cook
Denver "Dick" Cook, age 58, a well known Olustee U.S.Mail Carrier, passed away Tuesday morning at the Altus AFB Hospital, after a long illness.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon at the Olustee First United Methodist Church with the Rev. I. Boyd Ruffner officiating and the Rev. Robert Tickle assisting. Burial will be in the Olustee Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Mr. Cook was born in Kildav, KY on July 29, 1926 and entered the Armed Forces in 1944. On July 19, 1946, he was married to Charlotte Louise Mellor and in 1974 he retired from the USAF to reside in Olustee and became the Olustee rural mail carrier. He served the people of the Olustee area until overcome by ill health in June 1984.
Survivors include: his wife, Louise Cook of the home; one son, CWO II Orville L. Cook, U.S. Army of Clarksville, TN soon to be from Ft. Sill, OK; two daughters, Joyce Fox of Towcester, England and Darlene Reed of Upland, CA; three sisters, Deanna Trent of Charles Town, WV, Blanche Mullineaux of Charles Town, WV and Dorothy Pruitt of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren.
