Dewey was born April 5, 1918 in Clarksville, Texas to William Henry and Allie (Gardner) Gaffney. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. Dewey married Tennie Beaver June 19, 1947 in Vernon, Texas. He was a member of the American Legion in Altus.
Funeral services for Dewey Gaffney are scheduled for Tuesday, March 23, 1982 at 2:00 pm in the Church of God in Christ, Altus, officiated by Rev. M. D. Taylor. Burial will follow in the Altus Cemetery (American Legion Plot) under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.
Dewey is survived by his wife Tennie of the home in Altus; one son Don L. Gaffney, Lawton, Oklahoma; one daughter, Lenita, Tulsa, Oklahoma; one brother William Gaffney, Electra, Texas; one sister, Wilma Willis, Altus, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
