MERICAL
Dianna Lynn (Holt) Merical, age 60, of Granite, lost her hard fought battle with cancer and went to be with Jesus on January 14, 2014.
She was born September 9, 1953, and was the second oldest child of H.P. and Ethel (Knight) Holt. Dianna was saved and baptized at the age of twelve and is a member of Washington Street Baptist Church in Hobart. She grew up in Lone Wolf and graduated in 1971.
In 1982, she moved to Granite and was married to William Merical, on July 3, 1983. Dianna worked in retail most of her life and owned and operated the Granite One Stop Grocery and Meat Market from 1990-1995. She was a caregiver until 2006, when her declining health caused her to stop working. In January 2013, Dianna was diagnosed with cancer, but her strong will and determination to live so she could be around her grandkids was an inspiration. She loved them more than life itself. Dianna was her kids" biggest fan and supporter. She loved going to their activities and cheering them on in whatever they were doing. Dianna was an avid fan of the Granite Panthers, OU Sooners, and OKC Thunder. She was a second "mom" to many people and a friend to even more. Her generosity, unconditional love, and outspoken personality set her apart from others. She will always be remembered for these and other excellent qualities that made Dianna who she was.
Preceded in death by her father, H.P. Holt, Dianna is survived by her mother Ethel Holt of Granite; her husband, Willie, of the home; one daughter Heather Lucas and her husband Ansen of Illinois; a son Justin Callahan and wife Sherrie of Lone Wolf; one step son, Nathan Merical and wife Liz of Okinawa, Japan; four sisters Shirley Murray and husband Roger of Granite, Marilynn Lankford and husband Henry of Lone Wolf, Eva Annis and husband Art of Katy, Texas and Vickie Winters and husband Randy of Lone Wolf; one brother Harold Holt and wife Jamie of Ada and nine grandkids along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Dianna Merical will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014, with Pastor Emmitt Hayslip officiating. Interment will follow at Granite City Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Granite.
