Obituary for Donald Gene Hargis
Donald Gene Hargis, age 20, Corporal, United States Marine Corps and Altus resident, died Saturday morning at Keesler Air Force Base Hospital, Mississippi of injuries received on June 17th when involved in a car-pedestrian accident at Richton, MS. Stationed with the Marine Corps in North Carolina, he was on leave in Mississippi when accidently struck by a passing auto.

Memorial services have been set for Thursday, 2:00 P.M. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, officiated by the Reverend Hoyett Lemmon. Burial will be in the Altus City Cemetery - Veterans Section under direction of Lowell Funeral Home.

Born July 24th, 1951, he had been in the military service since August 1969, having served two foreign service tours in the Pacific.

Survivors include: his Mother and Father, Dee and Verda Lea Hargis of the home at 418 Willard; two brothers, Orville of the home and Kenneth Wayne of Faxon, OK; two sisters, Mrs. Joan Smith of Lawton and Mrs. Roberta Lea Vick of Ada, OK.
