Obituary for Donnie Lynn Russell
Donnie Lynn Russell,70, longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away May 3, 2022 in Granfield, Oklahoma. Funeral services are pending with Lowell- Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
Donnie was born in Altus, Oklahoma on April 2, 1952 to his parents Lloyd Russell and Hazel (Allen) Russell. He grew up in Blair and Olustee and graduated from Altus High School. Following graduation, Donnie attended college in Plainview, Texas where he earned his bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University.
Donnie decided to fulfill his patriotic duty to our country and joined the United States Navy. During his military career, he was stationed on both the USS Saratoga and the USS America. Upon returning to civilian life, Donnie went to work for Rent City in Altus for a number of years and then was employed by the City of Altus in the Parks & Recreation Division.
Outside of work, Donnie liked fishing and spending time with his family. His kind heart and gentle demeanor will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Russell; his brother, Jackie Russell; and his sister, Brenda Russell (Shirley).
Donnie is survived by his mother, Hazel Russell; one brother, Odie Russell and his wife, Carolyn of Hobbs, NM; several nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives, friends, and neighbors.
