Obituary for Dorothy Marie George
Dorothy Marie George, age 78, longtime resident of Olustee, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2002. Services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2002, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. The family will be receiving guests from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Marie was born December 3, 1924, in Navarro County, Texas to Robert Lee and Francis Elizabeth (Walls) Talbot. They moved to the Olustee area when she was an infant. On September 19, 1950, Marie and Noel George were united in marriage in Olustee. They remained in Southwest Oklahoma their entire lives, where Noel served as Pastor in many of the area churches. They have served the Prairie Hill Church for the past several years, where Marie served in many capacities, including Sunday School Secretary. Marie was Noel's helpmate and it was rare to see one without the other. She loved to cook for everyone and all during their ministry held 'open house' at her home every Sunday night. She always had a home cooked meal and a place to stay for all the visiting Evangelists. Marie loved to help all of her community and was always available to take her friends to doctor appointments and other engagements. She was a very hard worker and "managed" her home throughout her lifetime.
She was a lovely lady with an encouraging smile and a very positive attitude. She had a witty, dry sense of humor. Marie was a wonderful mother and a very proud grandmother. She was never happier than when she was with her family and friends. She kept a 'gallery' of photographs in her living room of the many relatives and friends throughout her life. Marie will be deeply missed by a host of people.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Oleta; and by two brothers, Alvis Talbot and "Bud" Talbot.
She is lovingly survived by her husband Noel, of the home; three children, Joy George Zitterkob of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Goebel George and wife Sally of Altus, Oklahoma and Mark George and wife Christie of Altus; one sister, Mary Stout and husband Raymond of Olustee, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Gregory George Zitterkob, Blane George, Amanda George, Drew George, Brady George, Tyler George, Garrett George, Colby George and Trace George; and a host of other relatives and friends.
