Funeral services have been set for Earl B. Goodrich, Jr., age 42, of 208 West "C" Street. Mr. Goodrich died suddenly at his home Wednesday morning of an apparent heart attack. Born in Chelsia, Oklahoma, he had served with the United States Air Force almost 21 years having retired from active duty on October 19, 1967 with the grade of Senior Master Sergeant. An outstanding airman Sergeant Goodrich had served with distinction as evidenced by the many commendations awarded over his period of service. Since his retirement Mr. Goodrich has been attending Altus Jr. College and has been very active in American Legion affairs, while at the same time finding time to devote to the Boy Scout program in Altus and Jackson County. His interest in youth was further evidenced by his active aid and participation in Scout and Legion baseball, Girls State and Boys State programs sponsored by local civic groups.
He was married to the former Lena Louise "Skip" Logan in 1954.
Survivors include: his wife, Lena of the home; one son, William Earl; two step-sons, Charley Johnson of Leota, KS and Donald Johnson of San Antonio, TX; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Goodrich, Sr. of Okmulgee, OK; two brothers, Louis Goodrich of Grand Haven, MI and Carl of Aurora, CO; three grandchildren, Tony, Gail and Donna Lynn Johnson.
Services are scheduled at 2:30 P.M., Friday, September 13, 1968 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Altus, officiated by the Reverend Hoyett Lemmon, Pastor. Burial will be with full military honors at Altus City Cemetery under direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
