Obituary for Edith Lorene Overfield
Edith Lorene (Groves) Overfield died March 18, 2001 at the quartz Mountain Care Center. Grave side services, under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, are set for 10:00am Wednesday at the Altus City Cemetery. Mrs Margie Van Oostrum will officiate.
Edith was born November 18, 1913 to G.A. (Lon) and Clara M. (Waldrip) Groves. She married Thomas Franklin (Hap) Overfield on November 14,, 1932. They had one daughter, Lonnie Sue Overfield Barton.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Mary Barton-Light and John M. Barton both of Tulsa; two sisters, Iva Tigert of Cleveland, Ohio and Faye Wentworth of Thousands Oaks, California; sister in law, Aileen Groves and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, daughter, Sue and four brothers, Jim, Harley, Boyd and Grady Groves.
