Obituary for Edmond Wilson Peters
Edmond W. Peters, age 70, Altus City Employee, died Sunday evening at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Altus, with the Reverend David Matthews officiating. Burial will be in the Altus City Cemetery under direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Born July 17th, 1900 at Wingfield, Texas, he had been a long time resident of Altus. He was a former Altus City Councilman and had been employed as a City Reservoir Patrolman since 1960. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge and Woodman of the World.
Survivors include: his wife, Alta, of the home; a son, Bill Peters, a student at OBU; a step-son, Serge Beck of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Mr. Virgil Peters of Amarillo; four sisters, Mrs. L. M. Levick of Lawton, Mrs. Joe Matteroli of Denver, CO, Mrs. Pearl Campbell of Bremerton, WA and Mrs. Linnie Chastain of Lawton, OK. A son, John Ed Peters was killed in WWII in 1944.
